David Richter

David Richter is a Principal with Tysvar, LLC. Mr. Richter leads Tysvar’s AquaFence flood protection business, serves as CEO of AquaReady, Inc., a Tysvar Group company, and provides strategic advisory services on other Tysvar engagements.

Most of Mr. Richter’s career has focused on young growing companies as they sell across the business development continuum: vision to pre-revenue investors, mission and opportunity to employees, beta solutions to early-adopter customers, complex multi-million dollar revenue deals to strategic customers, and finally, enterprise value to corporate partners. Mr. Richter has over 25 years of executive experience as president of a medical device firm, principal consultant, CEO of a software and services firm and senior executive with a Fortune 1000 company.

Prior to joining Tysvar, Mr. Richter served as Managing Director of MedTrust Solutions, LLC, a privayely-held advisory firm serving early-stage healthcare companies. At MedTrust, Richter served as an advisor to the University of Minnesota’s Ofice of Technology Commercialization. During this engagement, he evaluated technology to more effectively measure brain activity, software to accelerate the identification and enrollment of patients in clinical trials, simulation-based solutions to more rapidly-train healthcare providers, and bio-culture transplant procedures to treat infectious diseases. From 2004 to 2007, he was a senior executive with Hill-Rom Company, Inc., a global business with $1.6 billion in revenue, focusing on business development, sales and strategic marketing initiatives in the company’s IT Services Group. From 1997 through 2004, he served as Chairman and CEO of NaviCare Systems, Inc., a healthcare software and IT services firm he co-founded which was acquired by Hill-Rom in 2004 after achieving rapid revenue growth, profitability and exceptional positive cash flow. Mr. Richter also served as an advisor to senior Minnesota state officials on economic development policy which included a focus on new business formation.

Previously, he served as president and member of the board of directors of Dacomed Corporation, a privately-held medical device firm and worked at KPMG. At Dacomed, Mr. Richter directed strategic alliances, expanded internationally into 20 countries, and directed the launch of new therapeutic technologies. Beyond realizing commercial success, companies led or started by Mr. Richter have received Minnesota High Technology Council’s Tekne Award, Minnesota Hospital Association’s Innovation of the Year Award, and Minnesota Governor’s Commendation for Sales Export Initiatives. Mr. Richter received his BS degree in business from the Carlson School of Management and is a CPA.

Residing in Circle Pines, Minnesota, Mr. Richter is married to Doreen Richter. His interests include skiing, hiking, fishing, snowshoeing and reading. Mr. Richter is active on boards serving non-profit and faith-based organizations.
